He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, a 65 year member of the New Bremen American Legion Post 241, and the former Woodman of the World of New Bremen. For many years, Duane was an accountant at the former STAMCO in New Bremen, and later was a comptroller for Bell & Howell in Sidney. From 1977-1990 Duane and his son Dean owned and operated the former Hotel Bar in New Bremen. In his spare time, Duane was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed trap shooting, big game hunting, and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed bowling, vegetable gardening, family picnics, family genealogy, and Cincinnati Reds baseball.
