EDWARD A. KOENIG age 77
Of St. Marys, died on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 3:35 A.M. at the Lima Memorial Health System following a brief illness. He was born on September 9, 1941, in New Bremen the son of the late Victor W. and Ruth C. (Schwepe) Koenig. His wife Joyce A. (Taylor) Koenig, whom he married on December 1, 1990, survives in St. Marys. Also surviving are his children: Michelle (Jesse) Dillon of New Knoxville, Sue (Ron) Luthman of St. Marys, John (Denise) Koenig of Salem, Wisconsin, Kelly (Chris) Hogan of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Kandi (Brett) Hines of Cynthiana, Kentucky, and Kim Stamps of Sharonville, Ohio; his sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren (with one on the way), a brother Roger (Sharon) Koenig of New Bremen, and his former wife Diana Prichard of St. Marys. Along with his parents, Ed was preceded in death by an infant brother Charles Koenig.

Ed was a graduate of New Bremen High School. He was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys where he helped with funeral luncheons, was a Sunday greeter, and assisted with weekly meal deliveries. He could often be found at antique auctions, or spending time in the woods enjoying nature, collecting wildflowers and hickory nuts, or cutting firewood. He was a talented woodworker and taught his family his creative woodworking skills, having worked for the Hoge Lumber Company as a cabinet maker for nearly thirty years before retiring in 2004. Ed loved talking to people, therefore he never knew a stranger; he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a family man who loved spending time with his family, and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, a great father, and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Edward. Acts 24:15 draws attention to a wonderful hope that God holds out to Edward; meditating on the future benefits of this hope for each of you at Revelation 21:4 can bring a measure of comfort for this time.
