BETTY A. QUELLHORST, age 88,

of New Bremen, died on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 8:59 P.M. at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She was born on March 9, 1934 in New Bremen, the daughter of the late Willis V. and Waneta C. (Timmerman) Holdren. On September 17, 1955, she married Lowell G. Quellhorst who survives in New Bremen. Also surviving are her sons, Brian (Diane) Quellhorst of Centerville, Ricky (Susan) Quellhorst of St. Marys, and Philip (Melissa) Quellhorst of Waynesville, her six grandchildren: Joshua (Nicole) Quellhorst, Jaime Quellhorst, Sherrie (Scott) Altenbach, Fred (Laura) Quellhorst, Hannah (Alex) Cline, and Sarah Quellhorst, and six great-grandchildren: Lucas Quellhorst, Landon Bice, Alexander Altenbach, Kameryn Altenbach, Laura Quellhorst, and Brooke Quellhorst. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings Mary Finke and Thomas (Joyce) Holdren all of New Bremen. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister Donna Wirtz and her brother in-laws, Jack Wirtz and Robert Finke.

Betty was a 1952 graduate of New Bremen High School. She then went on to further her education at the former Lima Memorial School of Nursing where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1955. She first worked as a nurse at the Joint Township Hospital, then at the former Valley Nursing Home and later at the Otterbein, all in St. Marys. She also spent time as a homemaker after each of the boys were born. Together as a family they enjoyed camping and took several memorable cross-country trips. Betty and Lowell enjoyed listening and dancing to big bands, playing tennis, and were members of a rotating card club for nearly fifty years.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen with Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen. Calling hours will be held prior to the services, at the church, on Wednesday from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M.
