CARL J. “RED” KOVERMAN age 85,
Formerly of New Bremen, died on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 7:15 P.M. at Bethany Village in Centerville, where he has resided for the last few months. He was born on June 10, 1937 in New Bremen, the son of the late Bernard J. and Bertha (Robbins) Koverman. On March 25, 1961 he married Geraldine A. Heiser who died on January 9, 2023. Survivors include his children: Linda (Michael) Quinlin of Centerville, and Lisa Heitbrink of Troy; his seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother Bernard (Jeanette) Koverman of Newport. Along with his parents and wife, Carl was preceded in death by his siblings: Donald (Janet) Koverman and Betty Jean (Charles) Huff.

Red had attended New Bremen Schools. He had served the area for many years as a member of the New Bremen / German Twp. Fire Department. He had worked for Crown Equipment Corp. in New Bremen for 45 years, retiring in 1999. He was a dedicated employee who never missed a day and enjoyed his job as the machine shop supervisor of Plant 3. In his spare time he loved to watch sporting events on television (especially Dodgers baseball), go fishing and camping on the weekends, and in his younger years, he played softball and was an avid bowler. Red also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and taking time each fall to go hunting with his beagle dogs.

The family will be holding private services, and inurnment will take place in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen at a later date.
