GERALDINE A. “Geri” KOVERMAN age 83,
Formerly of New Bremen, died on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 9:55 A.M. at the Joint Twp. Dist. Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. She was born on February 28, 1939 in New Bremen, the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Lillian A. (Merkle) Heiser. On March 25, 1961 she married Carl J. Koverman who survives at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyles Community where he and Geri made their home. Also surviving are her children: Linda (Michael) Quinlin of Centerville, and Lisa Heitbrink of Troy; her seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Geri was preceded in death by her siblings: Raymond (Sandra) Heiser and Rosaline (Thomas) Fullerton.
Geri was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. She was a 1955 graduate of Julienne High School in Dayton, and had worked at the former Beatrice Foods in New Bremen. Geri loved to read various genres of books and even formed a family book club as a way to spend extra time with her grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress making clothes for her children and grandchildren and she also liked to knit. She could often be found spending time in her flower beds or baking special treats. She was a person who always put other’s needs ahead of her own, and would often send cards or flowers to people on special occasions.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. in the Meyer Room of the Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Community, which will be followed by a prayer service to celebrate Geri’s life beginning at 3:00 P.M. with Deacon Mr. Brad Feltz officiating.
