JAMES N. BRINING, SR., age 78

of New Bremen died on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 7:15 AM, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on September 1, 1943 in Bradford, Ohio the son of the late Mae Saunders and Newton Brining. On April 2, 1964 he married Sandra R. Berning and she preceded him in death on March 15, 2011. He is survived his children: Dawn (Tom) Fair of Sidney, Misty (Craig) Callahan of St. Marys, James Brining, Jr. of New Bremen, and Sherry Haynes of New Knoxville, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and his special friend Deb Kuck of St. Marys. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Carol (Roger) Couchot of South Dakota, Bill (Charisse) Brining of Sidney, Alice (Dale) Pierce of West Milton, Jack (Pam) Johnson of Texas, and David (Della) Johnson of Dayton. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Bambi Brining, a son in-law Jim Haynes, and his siblings Helen (Fred) Canan and Ward Donavan.

If you knew Jim, you knew he was a social butterfly. He was a member of many local clubs and lodges and could often be found socializing with his many friends. He was also known to the quite the dancer. He enjoyed spending time with his son and grandkids fishing and stocking his beautiful pond (his personal aquarium) which he called Lake St. James. He also hosted many special events at his lake over the years, making a lot of memories with his family and friends. Jim was a welder by trade, and had been the former co-owner of Kinniger Welding in New Bremen where worked for many years until he retired to provide care for his wife, Sandy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Bryan Trego officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, 225 W. Monroe St. New Bremen, OH 45869 and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Memorial contributions in memory of Jim can be made to Grand Lake Hospice (1122 E.
