KENNETH R. TREGO, age 78,
Of New Bremen, formerly of Dayton, Greenville and Kettlersville, died on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 5:59 P.M. at Everheart Hospice in Greenville after an extended illness due to exposure to Agent Orange. He was born on November 10, 1944 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Glenn A. and Sara E. (Hensley) Trego. Ken is survived by his children; Bryan (Jodi) Trego of New Bremen, Joe (Lisa) Trego of Minster, and Sheena (Joe) Brown of Celina, his ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother Ronald Trego of Texas, and his beloved dog Gump. Along with his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his former wife, Billie A. (Fraley) Trego.

Ken was a 1962 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years as an Air Policeman in Vietnam. After his service, he went on to further his education using the GI Bill at the University of Dayton graduating with his bachelors of science in criminal justice. He had worked for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office and the Lima Army Tank Plant. Ken was a 32nd degree mason as a member of the Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite and the Mercer Lodge #121 F&AM and was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed spending time golfing, fishing, playing racquetball and cheering on the UD Basketball team. He had also coached ACME and little league baseball and had helped start the 3-8 grade basketball program in New Bremen.

Masonic Rites will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 6:00 P.M. Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen followed by a funeral service with Pastor Bryan Trego officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the services at the funeral home from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday. Interment will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen.
