Mildred L. Shellenberger, age 99

of New Knoxville, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 8:34 P.M. at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen, where she had been residing for the past two years. She was born on October 7, 1921 in Shelby County, between Botkins and New Knoxville. She was the daughter of the late Lewis W. and Malinda K. (Althoff) Howe. On December 7, 1945 she married Donald C. Shellenberger in Kettlersville, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1997. Surviving are her children Donna J. Nagel of New Bremen and Dale L. Shellenberger of New Knoxville, her grandchildren Corey (Sharon) Paul of New Bremen, Jesse (Susan) Paul of New Bremen, Ariel (Logan) Booth of Sandusky, Ohio, five great-grandchildren, and a sister Gloria Elsass of Sidney. Along with her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her siblings Lola Lammers, Fred Howe, Marie Billing, Virginia Fullenkamp, and Opal White.

Mildred was a 1939 graduate of Anna High School, and she was a faithful member of First Church of New Knoxville. While living at Elmwood, she was very involved in their various programs. Some of her favorite past times included knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading, and playing cards with her friends. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took an interest in their activities. Mildred was not only a homemaker, but also was the bookkeeper for the family business, the former Shellenberger Garage in New Knoxville. Mildred and Donald were also past members of the Flying Club of Auglaize County and also the Ohio Flyers.

Memorial Services for Mildred will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place in the Evangelical Reformed Cemetery in New Knoxville.
