Paul R.W. Quellhorst , 86 of St. Marys, formerly of New Bremen, died at 12:12 A.M. on January 29, 2018 at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyles of St. Marys. He was born on April 8, 1931 to the late Wilbert J.D. and Helen A. (Luelleman) Quellhorst . On December 18, 1954 he married Dorothy M. Palmateer in Galway, NY, and she survives in St. Marys. Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Rod Brodbeck of St. Marys, a son and daughter-in-law Tim and Vicki Quellhorst of Minster, four grandchildren; Sara (Jeff) Dieringer of St. Marys, Erin (Rob) Jester of Medina, OH, Ryan (Melissa) Quellhorst of Pickerington, OH, Adam Quellhorst of Nashville, TN, six great-grandchildren; Kendall, A.J., and Avery Dieringer, Hailie and Avery Jester, Liam Quellhorst , and a sister Janice Dorsten of St. Marys. Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a grandson Dustin Quellhorst , and a sister Anna Mae Topp.

Paul attended Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen for many years. He was a 1949 graduate of New Bremen High School. After he graduated from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served with his best friend in the Korean War from 1949-1954 as a 1st Class Gunner. When he returned home, he worked on the family farm raising Herford cattle and also became a livestock dealer for many years. He also worked with racehorses in Saratoga, NY, when he and Dorothy lived in New York. He enjoyed traveling out West to purchase cattle, and also loved horses and dogs, Johnny Cash, and the Cincinnati Reds. Paul will be remembered for his sense of humor, for being a true gentleman, and for his love of life.
