BettyJean Alice Bushman, age 88,
of Amsterdam Road, Minster, died at 2:51 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. She was born October 31, 1934 in New Bremen, the daughter of Walter and Isabella (Kohlrieser) Wittenbrink. On September 1, 1952 she married William Henry Bushman, Jr. and he died on July 21, 2005. She is survived by her children: Robyn (Dana) Tiderington of Spring Hill, FL, Jackie (Gregory) Hurney of Port Charlotte, FL, Tammy (Don) Oliver of Scottsdale, AZ and Teresa (James) Booth of New Bremen; a daughter in-law Monica Bushman of New Bremen; a sister Sharon (Walter) Fischbach of New Bremen; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many step-grandchildren, step great-grand-children, step great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Michael Bushman, a daughter Vickie Bushman, and a sister Doris Wolfe.
Betty was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. She worked for many years as a cafeteria aid for New Bremen Local Schools. She also co-owned and operated the former Bushman’s Bike Shop and Greenhouse of New Bremen with her husband and son.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen with Rev. Becky Strang officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen. Calling hours will held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again on Monday morning at the church from 9:30-10:30 A.M.
