BETTY J. WIETER, 88,
of St. Marys, died on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices in St. Marys after a brief illness. She was born on July 19, 1933 in St. Marys, the only child of the late Noah F. and Alice M. (Roby) Wieter. She is survived by her extended family who were her chosen children: Mary Ann (Steve) Warren of Jenera, Ohio, Diane (Mo) Niekamp of New Bremen, Carla (Larry) Bowers of Celina, Douglas (Linda) Thomas of Celina, Mary Ann Sheaks of St. Marys, and Floyd (Jeanne, deceased) Sheaks of St. Marys.

Betty was a member of the Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen where she had formerly served at the treasurer of the church. She was a member of the Women’s Business Club in St. Marys and had served as vice president and president of the organization. She was an avid sports fan, proudly cheering for the St. Marys Rough Riders, the Marion Local Flyers, and the OSU Buckeyes. She worked for 47 years as a secretary at GoodYear in St. Marys before her retirement. She enjoyed attending Lock One Community Arts’ artistic performances, and spending time with her many friends. She especially enjoyed going out to eat, going shopping, and loved the various bus trips she took around the country.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at the Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen with Pastor Trent Fledderjohann officiating. Interment will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. AT THE CHURCH on Friday. It is requested that masks be worn at all services. Memorial contributions in Betty’s honor can be made to Grand Lake Hospice (1122 E. Spring Street, St. Marys, Ohio 45885) or the Faith Alliance Church Memorial Fund (6670 Knoxville Ave. New Bremen, Ohio 45869).

      I live now in Ca.
      Betty and I were close when we were growing up.
      Always spent a day together whe I visited family in Ohio. My grandmother,Tillie and her father,Noah were
      Brother and sister. Betty was a sweet,fun cousin I will miss her
