PEGGY L. HURICK, age 68,

Recently of Grove City, formerly of Reno, Nevada and New Bremen, died on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 2:03 A.M. at the OSU James Cancer Hospital in Columbus. She was born on June 26, 1953 in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Paul F. and A. June (Nolan) Schott. On October 26, 2003 she married Michael G. Hurick, who now survives in Grove City. Also surviving are her children: Michelle Schott of Dublin, Chad (Jane) Wuebker of New Bremen, Ryan Wuebker of New Bremen, and Nathan Wuebker of Reno NV, and her grandchildren: Nora, Aaron, Adam, and Avery. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Jennifer (William) Wheaton of Norton Shores, MI, her twin Pamela (Bill) Hartman of Yorktown, VA, and Randy (Cindy) Schott of Long Island, NY.

Peg was a 1971 graduate of New Bremen High School. She then went on to further her education at the former St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Dayton. Later in life, she completed training and became certified as an EMT-3. She worked at Dannon in Minster for 20 years, moving into EHS as a Safety Manager before working for Medcor for 18 years as a paramedic in Oregon and Nevada, and later in Washington, DC. She also was a member of the New Bremen and Ft. Loramie EMS and was proud to volunteer her time as a medic. Her passion for caring for others led her to volunteer for the American Red Cross on the Ohio disaster response team where she assisted in the kitchen on numerous missions most notably in New York City in the wake of 9/11. Her loving spirit and quick wit welcomed many friends into her life, from her neighbors, to her “train friends”, colleagues and many others. She enjoyed taking cruises, road trips and shopping – and was notably talented in interior decorating. She also fiercely loved her children and grandchildren and adored spending time with each of them.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 6:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, with Pastor Bill Maki officiating. Inurnment will take place in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen at a later date. Friends and family can pay their respects at the church on Friday, prior to the services from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. A reception following the church services will be held at the New Bremen Senior Citizens Center. Memorial contributions in memory of Peg can be made to the American Red Cross.
