Peggy Winner Watkins, age 88

of St. Marys passed away on August 7, 2021 at Otterbein after a brief illness. She was born on July 13, 1933 in Middleburg, Ohio to the late Sherman T. and Emma (Voke) Winner. She is survived by her husband of 71 years Harvey Watkins. They married on March 18, 1950. Peggy is also survived by her children: Kathryn (Kevin) Hirschfeld of Bordentown, NJ; Karen (Tim) Corcoran of Chillicothe, OH; Marsha Watkins (Eunice Hornsby) of Columbus, OH; honorary daughter Cheryl Burke of Celina, OH. Grandchildren: Lance (Sarah) Hirschfeld; Lane (Chrissy) Hirschfeld; Greg (Theresa) Corcoran; Lisa (Duane) Corcoran-Detty; and Andrea (Andy) Cordek. 10 great grandchildren; and numerous sisters and brothers-in law, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Betty Bunnell and Phyllis McDonnell.

She was a 1950 graduate of Woodstock High School, an Avon lady, and retired from Schindler Elevator in Sidney. She was a member of Immanuel Church of Kettlersville.

Peggy enjoyed pontoon boat rides, playing cards, music, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and visiting with her friends and family. Peggy had a gift of hospitality and welcomed all people, especially to share a meal and play cards.

She had a fighting spirit and positive outlook as she lived with Multiple Sclerosis for over 34 years. As an avid card player, she lived by her motto to “Play the hand you are dealt.”

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Church, 8888 St. Rt. 274, Kettlersville, Ohio 45336 with a lunch served following the service. Funeral services will also be live-streamed on the church’s Facebook page (Immanuel Kettlersville) or the church’s YouTube channel (Immanuel Office). Calling hours will take place on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, 225 W. Monroe St. New Bremen, OH 45869 and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Church of Kettlersville, PO Box 127, Kettlersville, OH 45336 or Area Agency on Aging #3, 2423 Allentown Rd, Lima OH 45805. Online condolences can be left for the family on the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home website: www.gilberghartwigfh.com
