VICKI L. MAY, age 64,
Of New Bremen, died peacefully surrounded by her family after a hard-fought battle from unexpected cardiac issues on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 5:48 P.M. at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She was born on May 12, 1960, in St. Marys the daughter of Lloyd W. Schroer who survives in New Bremen, and the late Janice B.E. (Topp) Schroer. In addition to her father, she leaves behind her best friend and companion of 43 years, Timothy S. May, whom she married on February 7, 1981. Her children Keith (Benjamin Bergman) May of New Knoxville, and Jessica (Dakota) Blair of Kettlersville were privileged to call her mom and friend. She was also a doting mama to her three favorite littles, Aubree, Rylee, and Jackson Blair. Also surviving are her sisters Deb (Gregg) Prater of Sidney and Lori (Kurt) Rindler of New Bremen, as well as her father in-law Larry May and sister in-law Kay (Randy Searight) May of New Bremen, and many friends, cousins, and nephews and nieces. In addition to her own mother, Vicki was preceded in death by her mother in-law Shirley May and sister in-law Cynthia May.

Vicki was a 1978 graduate of New Bremen High School and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University in Lima with an associate degree in Early Childhood Development. She went on to begin working at Shelby Hills Board of Developmental Disabilities before starting at Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities where she had enjoyed working in various positions over the last 38 years. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in St. Paul Church in New Bremen where she was also the junior choir director and Sunday school superintendent for a number of years. She had also attended the Immanuel Church of Kettlersville where she was part of the women’s group, and more recently, First Presbyterian Church in Sidney. Vicki had a fierce love for her family, and nothing brought her greater joy than being that mother hen and having all of her “chicks” in her nest. She also loved to spend time with family and friends at family meals, having adult beverages around a campfire, or her monthly girl’s nights out. Travel was also a huge part of Vicki and Tim’s life together. Countless weekend trips, motorcycle trips, snowmobiling trips, family vacations, and trips with friends were enjoyed across the United States, Canada, and Europe. She also enjoyed quiet time as an avid reader and sudoku master. As a mother, Vicki was a fierce supporter of her children and grandchildren always keeping up on their lives with daily morning phone calls, and taking an interest in their educational, sporting, music, and civic activities, especially those years she spent as the Cardinal Music Booster president, becoming a second mom to many of Keith and Jessica’s friends. Above all else, Vicki will always be remembered as a kind and selfless person, always giving of herself, and always having a beautiful smile.

A service of celebration to honor Vicki’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Crown Pavilion in New Bremen with Rev. David Voll officiating.
