ANGELA M. KITTEL, age 68,

Of New Knoxville, died on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at her residence after a short battle with cancer. She was born on September 18, 1953 in Sidney, the daughter of the late Anthony P. and Elizabeth H. (Benanzer) Mertz. On November 16, 1996 she married Michael L. Kittel who survives in New Knoxville. Also surviving are her children: Sheila Goins of Coldwater and Paul (Tina) Binkley of Wapakoneta; her step-children: Tina (Keith) Thompson of New Knoxville, and Michelle Moon of St. Marys; her seventeen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren (with another two on the way). Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Frances Long of St. Marys, Delores Rutt of Chesapeake, OH, Carl Mertz of TX, Richard (Teresa) Mertz of WY, Carol (Dave) Cruse of Springboro, Veronica Butt of Sidney, and Elizabeth Immel of Sidney. Along with her parents, Angela was preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Long, Rita Clagg, Louis Mertz, and Albert Mertz.

Angela, better known as Mike’s “Angel with an a,” attended Houston High School for a time, but was proud of earning her GED later in life. She loved to sing and she had a passion for world history, and could debate facts with anyone (and she was always right!). When she was younger, she was an avid bowler on the Friday night league, and she also was a good softball player. She and Mike enjoyed taking camping trips together, visiting casinos, attending the Portland Power Show each year, and taking many trips around different parts of the country, her favorite trip being Hawaii. Her most favorite thing was spending time with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed being a grandma and loved supporting and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She also liked to spend time playing games with her family, and she was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes football team and the Cincinnati Reds. She had worked at Findlay Industries for over 20 years as a textiles press worker, and had retired from Crown Equipment Corp. after 16 years as a materials handler.
