AUDREY IRENE MCCOLLUM, age 89,
Of New Bremen, died on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 9:55 A.M. at the Briarwood Village in Coldwater where she had resided for the last two years. She was born on October 29, 1932 in Minster, the daughter of the late Bernard E. “Ben” and Bernadine C. (Berning) Lampert. On September 12, 1953 she married Jack R. McCollum who died on April 5, 1984. Surviving are her sons Jeffrey (Susan) McCollum of New Bremen, and Michael (Jayne) McCollum of Johns Creek, GA; her grandchildren: Jay (Amanda) McCollum, Brooke (Jeffery) Wente, Nichole (Joshua Levinson) McCollum, and Brandon (Melanie) McCollum; her great-grandchildren: Emma, Ella, Evelyn, Evan, Lucy, Jack, Olive, Max, Josie, Charley and Brady. Also left to cherish her in memory are her in-laws: Sue Shockney of New Bremen, Janice Vogelwede of Fort Wayne, IN, William (Ann) McCollum of New Bremen and Virginia (Tom) Braun of New Bremen, Audy was the last of her family being preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Orville (Barney) Lampert, Virgil (Jean) Lampert, Thomas (Edna) Lampert, Marilyn (Guy) Dennings, Eugene (JoAnn) Lampert, and an infant brother Victor Lampert. She was also preceded in death by in-laws: Patricia (Warren) Topp, James Shockney, Donald Vogelwede and Barbara McCollum.
Audy was a 1950 graduate of New Bremen High School. She was a devoted member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen where she volunteered as the chair of the funeral luncheon committee for 18 years. She also belonged to the American Legion Post 241 Ladies Auxiliary, helped on the Bremenfest Committee, and volunteered at Joint Twp. Dist. Memorial Hospital in St. Marys for a number of years. She was an avid sports enthusiast following all of New Bremen’s sports as well as the Cincinnati Reds. She enjoyed bowling and golfing, visiting casinos, and was a member of numerous card clubs. She had worked at Crown Equipment Corp. in New Bremen and then became the office manager for the former Advanced Auto and Bubeck Chevrolet in New Bremen and then retired from Reineke Ford of Covington, OH.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. Inurnment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church on Monday morning. Memorial contributions in Audy’s memory can be made to Grand Lake Hospice (1122 E. Spring Street, St. Marys, Ohio 45885) or to the Holy Redeemer Kitchen Fund (120 S. Eastmoor Drive, New Bremen, Ohio 45869).
