RUBY M. GREIWE, age 93,
Of rural New Bremen, died suddenly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Wednesday afternoon, January 19, 2022. She was born on October 21, 1928 at home in Maplewood in Shelby County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Ruth (Glick) Davis. On January 15, 1947 she married Delbert G. Greiwe and he died on March 3, 2011. Surviving are her children Gary (Judy) Greiwe and Jayne (John) Schoonover, both of Findlay, her grandchildren: Gary Greiwe of Pittsburgh, PA and Dennis (Kim) Greiwe of Wapakoneta; and three great-grandchildren: Thomas, Hannah, and Jessica Greiwe. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters Euanna Herndon of Sidney and Gertrude Clinehens of Quincy. Along with her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her brother Eugene Davis, and a grandson David Greiwe.

Ruby had been attending Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen. She was a graduate of Anna High School and her class recently held its 75th class reunion. For a brief time she worked at Goodyear in St. Marys and also the dentist’s office in New Knoxville, but primarily was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm. She was a strong, hard-working, and independent woman all of her life, still living on her own with some assistance. For over forty years, she and Delbert would travel to escape the Ohio winters. First going West to Arizona and California; and for over thirty years, they wintered at their home in Sebring, Florida where they were surrounded by wonderful neighbors. She loved to play shuffleboard at the community recreational center and take daily walks. She also enjoyed bible study groups and spending time with the New Knoxville United Methodist ladies groups.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Pastor Trent Fledderjohann officiating. Interment will follow in the Willow Grove Cemetery near New Bremen. Friends and family may call prior to the services at the funeral home on Sunday, from Noon until 2:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in memory of Ruby can be made to the Gideon’s International. The family is being assisted by the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and online condolences to the family may be left at www.gilberghartwigfh.com.
