DORIS K. LUNZ, age 98,
Formerly of New Bremen, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 3:00 A.M. at The Gardens of Celina where she had been a resident for the last several years. She was born on August 2, 1924 near Jackson Center, the daughter of the late Henry C. and Margaret P. (Rickert) Christler. On December 10, 1942, she married Delbert E. Lunz and he died on June 10, 2002. Surviving are her children Susan Koenig of New Bremen and Rick Lunz of Celina, her grandchildren Andy (Lisa) Koenig of Rossford, Ohio, and Amber (Brian) Tontrup of Piqua, her four great-grandchildren: Ellie Koenig, Grace Koenig, Aiden Teeters, and Grayson Tontrup, a sister in-law Rosemary Christler of Wapakoneta, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruth (Daniel) Gross, Evelyn (Robert) Waterman, Roger “Bud” Christler, Shirley (Jimmie) Schnell, Carol (James) Knoch.
Doris was a graduate of Jackson Center High School and went on to further her education, graduating from the beauty school in Lima. She had owned and operated the former Doris’ Beauty Shop in New Bremen for more than 40 years before retiring in 1990. She had been a member of Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen.
Private family funeral services will be held at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen. Memorial contributions in memory of Doris can be made to EverHeart Hospice (1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331).
