Iva Lou C. Bergman, age 92,
of New Bremen, peacefully passed away at 6:58 A.M. in her home surrounded by her children on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. She was born on November 9, 1930 in Rhine, Ohio to the late Edward and Hulda (Steinke) Greve. She married Richard Stephen Bergman on October 3, 1953 who preceded her in death on February 23, 2011. She is survived by her children: Diane (Ron) Moeller of Cleveland, Rebecca (Rolf) Wielick of Seattle, Lisa (Bob) Moeller of New Bremen, Dan Bergman of New Bremen, and Greg (Karen) Bergman of Bowling Green, Ohio, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, in-laws: Peg Bergman of St. Marys, Jeannie Bergman of Egypt and Faye Bergman of Middleton. She was preceded in death by siblings: Luetta (Marion) Ruppert, Victoria (Virgil) Rohrbach and Nelson (Ann) Greve and her in-laws: Maurinus Bergman, Anna Marie (Ralph) Osterloh, Jim Bergman, Irene (Tom) Minch, Otmar “Curley” Bergman, Eugene (Kate) Bergman, Teresa (Bob) Willhof, and Larry Bergman.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Iva Lou was an active and devoted member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen where she was a past member of the choir and was a “Holy Duster”. She enjoyed the farm life, vegetable gardening, her family and grandchildren and later in life spending time with her friends. Iva Lou was an advocate and believer of natural health and healing.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen with Rev. Fr. Matt Jozefiak and Deacon Greg Bornhorst officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again on Saturday at the church from 9:30 till 10:15 A.M. Memorial contributions in Iva Lou’s memory can be made to Grand Lake Hospice (1122 East Spring Street, St Marys, Ohio 45885) or the Church of the Holy Redeemer (120 South Eastmoor Drive, New Bremen, Ohio 45869).
