JUDITH JEAN MARTIN of New Bremen, Ohio, passed away suddenly at her residence at the age of 72 on Good Friday, March 29, 2024. Judy was born on May 9, 1951 in Piqua, Ohio. She was the youngest of five children. Judy was the daughter of the late Orville B. and Norma L. “Barney” (Kettler) Lampert. She is survived by her son B.J. Martin of Troy, Ohio, her daughter Krystle (Eric) Poeppelman of Sidney, Ohio, and her grandchildren Cheyenne and Wyatt. She is also survived by her twin sister Jane Roby of Belton, Texas, her sister Nancy (Larry) Busse of New Bremen, Ohio, and her brother Bernard (Karen) Lampert of Englewood, Ohio. Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sister Beverly Williams.

Judy was a 1969 graduate of New Bremen High School and a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. She had been an instrumental part of her parents’ business, the former Lampert’s Supermarket in New Bremen, where she ran the front end of the store. She was a stay at home Mama for many years and later joined the work force as a temp worker in various occupations over the years. She had an extreme love for animals and took in many strays over her lifetime. She was a co-founder of the Auglaize County Humane Society. One of Judy’s biggest passions in life was music. She loved to sing and dance. She had a beautiful singing voice, and she loved attending concerts and watching bands perform. The other biggest passion Judy had in life was being a mother and grandmother. To her children, she was “Mama”, and to her grandson, she was “Grandma.” Judy’s love for her children was very fierce and unconditional. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. Judy will be and is already greatly missed by so many. She will forever be remembered as a kind, sweet, loving, compassionate woman who had the utmost patience and understanding for anyone and everyone who crossed her path.

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 2:45 P.M. in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen with Pastor James Lampert officiating. Calling Hours will be held prior to the graveside service on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 12:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen. Memorial contributions in memory of Judy can be made to the Auglaize County Humane Society.
